Dean Ponseti - Associate Band Director
Dean Ponseti comes to Davenport from Judson High School where he spent 15 years as the Marching Percussion Drumline Director, Percussion Ensemble Instructor, and Band Director. He has also taught the Beginner Percussion classes at Woodlake Hills and Judson Middle schools. Prior to Judson, Mr. Ponseti was the Director of Bands at Lanier High School and Associate Band Director at Lee High School in San Antonio, Texas. He served as an assistant professor at Montana State University where he was the Athletic Band Director and Professor of Percussion Studies. In 1995, Mr. Ponseti started his teaching career at Eisenhower High School in Houston, Texas.
Mr. Ponseti has a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and a Master of Arts in Percussion from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois.
Mr. Ponseti had the honor of marching for 3 years (1989-1991) on the snare line with the World Champion Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps. In 1991, he was crowned Snare Drum Individual Champion of the Drum Corps Midwest Competition and placed 2nd at the Drum Corps International and Percussive Arts Society International Convention Individual Snare Drum events respectively. He is a Vic Firth and Remo artist.
Mr. Ponseti is excited to bring his expertise as a band director, musician, and teacher to the Davenport High School band program. Along with Mr. Keyes, he will also be working with the Danville Middle School band department.
